The fic depicts things that should be by all rights horrifying (demon summoning, binding promises) in a lighthearted, almost cutesy way - which is actually a part of what makes it so entertaining. Hermione summons hellish horrors because she's lonely and wants company. Love it! But while she seems like a good child with a strong sense of what's right and wrong, the fic never explores her descent into darkness or struggles with morality. She never even considers that she made a mistake. While she flirts with being "evil", it's only in the last chapter that she does truly heinous things, and it's simply summarized in a few paragraphs. Maybe it's for the best that the fic ends before the disconnect between the lighthearted tone and the dark themes could become too jarring.
It's a clever sort of funny that doesn't sacrifice on meanings. Heed the tags though, this fic will not interest everyone.
The story is a little short, but every moment is enjoyable. It presents an entirely different wizarding world which I only wish I could have continued to read about. However, as it was it was still a marvellously inventive and convincing narrative which I would thoroughly recommend to future readers.
A delightful read, even though I feel it falls short of greatness. A bit more length and depth could have made this magnificent.
Short, but very cool concept. Has a very powerful Hermione in this. Writing is good.
This was just a delightful story. The ending was lacking, though. I felt the story had so much more to give. A young Hermione (prior to Hogwarts age) learns how to summon demons from a library book.
