... How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Cruciatus. Albus Dumbledore always worried about the parallels between Harry Potter and Tom Riddle. But let's be honest, Harry never really had the drive to be the next dark lord. Of course, things may have turned out quite differently if one of the other muggle-raised Gryffindors wound up in Slytherin instead.

Excellent take on a dark!Slytherin!Hermione

It really is an exceptional fic, although towards the end it starts trailing a bit, and loses the sense of a structured overall plot. It’s not surprising that the author abandoned it, actually, considering. Still, it’s a great look into a Dark!Slytherin!Hermione, and I’m very into it.

A really satisfying story about Hermione on a darker path

Hermione in slytherin done really well is really all you need to know about this story. Hermione being forced due to her circumstances of being a muggleborn in a house which really doesn't like that is forced to excel even more than in canon. It gives her a drive beyond just being academically good and following rules and instead drives her to be as good as she can possibly be to stave off bullying and secure her position. She is forced to confront her bullies head-on, become more and more ruthless in order to show strength. Slytherin is also not exaggerated into a bizarre pit of snakes. It just has different values which made it initially difficult for Hermione to fit in but it is a rather satisfying journey to see her do just that and carve out her own place. The collision course this puts her into with canon characters makes for a fascinating read as well- It's so enjoyable to read how different Hermione's perception on the other characters is in this. Dumbledore's treatment for Gryffindor actively pushes her away from him, for example, since she now sees the last minute points as a spit in her face and preferential treatment for Harry. The writing is really solid and it has one of the best and most memorable scenes in fiction that I have ever read. The scene is just so overwhelming good, it just blows you away. It is a bit slow though, just in year three IIRC and the updates take their time, only coming sporadically like once a year if at that. Hasn't been an update for a while. Still, worth reading what is out.

It's been a while since I was on my Harry Potter kick but I remember this fic as well-written and well-plotted. Hermione is slightly darker but not excessively so.
